Bovipen™ is an antibiotic injection containing procaine penicillin. It’s used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in cattle e.g. clostridial infections.

  • Cattle species-specific injectable penicillin.
  • Easy administration.
  • Convenient plastic pillow packs.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

  • 16 ml per 400 kg bodyweight in the upper neck, by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection.
  • Administer the selected dose once only with no repeats as a prophylactic treatment (in the absence of clinical symptoms), otherwise administer the selected dose daily for 3 days.

WITHHOLDING PERIODS

It is an offence for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds.

  • Milk: One dose - 48 hours (4 milkings), two doses – 60 hours (5 milkings), three or more doses – 72 hours (6 milkings).
  • Meat: 10 days

PACK SIZES

Available in 200 ml plastic pillow packs.

 

This product is classified as green under Antibiotic Judicious Use Guidelines for the New Zealand Veterinary Profession.
