Antibiotic injection containing Ceftiofur, used to treat bacterial infections in cattle and pigs
Cefaguard™ is an antibiotic injection containing ceftiofur. It’s used to treat footrot and metritis in cattle, and respiratory infections in cattle and pigs.
It is an offence for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds.
Available in boxes of 4 x 30 ml plastic vials.
This product is classified as red under Antibiotic Judicious Use Guidelines for the New Zealand Veterinary Profession. Red light antimicrobials are considered important in treating refractory conditions in human and veterinary medicine, and are only be used following veterinary diagnosis on a case by case basis with sufficient evidence to indicate need.
