Tyloguard™ is an antibiotic injection containing tylosin. It’s used to treat bacterial infections caused by tylosin sensitive organisms in cattle, sheep, pigs and goats e.g. mastitis and respiratory diseases.

  • Registered for use by intravenous route in cattle.
  • Two convenient pack sizes.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Cattle and calves: 5–10 mg/kg bodyweight (2.5–5 ml/100 kg) daily for no more than 5 days. If the intravenous route is used initially, maintain therapeutic levels by administering an intramuscular dose 12 hours later.
  • Pigs: 5–10 mg/kg bodyweight (2.5–5 ml/100 kg) daily for no more than 3 days.
  • Sheep and goats: 10 mg/kg bodyweight (2.5 ml/50 kg) daily for no more than 5 days.
  • Administer by intramuscular injection in the upper half of the neck. In cattle, the slow intravenous route may be used.

WITHHOLDING PERIODS

It is an offence for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant MRL in the Food Notice: Maximum Residue Levels for Agricultural Compounds.

  • Milk (cattle): 72 hours / 6 milkings
  • Milk (sheep & goats): 35 days
  • Meat: 21 days

PACK SIZES

Available in boxes of 3 x 75 ml and 200 ml plastic pillow packs.

 

This product is classified as red under Antibiotic Judicious Use Guidelines for the New Zealand Veterinary Profession. Red light antimicrobials are considered important in treating refractory conditions in human and veterinary medicine, and are only be used following veterinary diagnosis on a case by case basis with sufficient evidence to indicate need.
