About Virbac New Zealand

Advancing the health of animals with those who care for them every day, so we can all live better together: this is our purpose.

Focusing on animal health, from the beginning

Since 1968, Virbac has been driven by a simple but powerful belief: animals deserve dedicated healthcare solutions. When veterinary needs were not fully met by human pharmaceutical products, veterinary surgeon Pierre-Richard Dick founded Virbac in Nice, France, to develop medicines designed specifically for animals and the people who care for them.

More than five decades later, that same spirit continues to guide us. Today, Virbac operates in over 100 countries worldwide, delivering practical, innovative products and services that help diagnose, prevent and treat a wide range of animal health conditions - all with one goal in mind: improving the quality of life for animals.

We remain proudly independent, entrepreneurial in spirit, and focused on long-term impact.

The world's sixth-largest animal health laboratory

With more than 6,400 employees globally, 12 production facilities and 35 sales subsidiaries, we combine international expertise with local understanding. Our integrated innovation ecosystem - spanning research, development, manufacturing and distribution - enables us to respond quickly to evolving animal health needs across companion animal and livestock sectors.

From preventative care to advanced therapeutics, we are committed to shaping the future of animal health.

Local expertise. Global strength

Virbac New Zealand is a dynamic and growing part of the global Virbac group.

Based in Hamilton, we play a pivotal role in the manufacture and distribution of premium animal health products trusted by veterinarians, farmers and pet owners throughout New Zealand.

Our local story began in 1993 as Techvet Laboratories. Through continued investment and the acquisition of the Stockguard group of companies in 2012, we have grown to become one of the fastest-growing animal health companies in New Zealand.

Today, our team of more than 70 people works across Industrial Operations, Research, Development & Licensing, Finance, Marketing and Veterinary Technical Services - supported by an experienced in-field sales team. Together, we operate from our head office, manufacturing facility and distribution centre in Hamilton, delivering high-quality solutions tailored to New Zealand conditions.

Just as we are committed to advancing animal health, we are equally committed to our people - fostering an inclusive, supportive workplace culture and proudly participating in the Great Place to Work® programme.
