Aids in the treatment of separation anxiety for cats & dogs
Clomicalm™ is used as part of a comprehensive behavioural management program for treating anxiety and sterotypic behaviours in dogs over six months of age. It also aids in the treatment of urine spraying in desexed and female cats.
WHAT IS SEPARATION ANXIETY?
As a naturally social species, many dogs rely on their owners to feel safe and secure. For some dogs, being left alone, or even just being apart from their owner, can be a very stressful experience. These feelings of anxiety and distress are often referred to as separation anxiety, and can result in unwanted behaviours, which can vary depending on the dog. Unwanted behaviours can include:
If you think your dog might be suffering from separation anxiety, it’s important to remember that you're not alone. In fact, it is one of the most common behavioural problems encountered in dogs, and can be hugely distressing for both you and your pet.
A big part of managing separation anxiety is your dog learning to be alone. Ideally, training should start from when they are a puppy, but you can also train your adult dog by gradually increasing the amount of time they are left alone. As with all training, it can seem daunting, but consistency and patience is key.
HOW DOES CLOMICALM™ WORK?
Clomicalm™ contains clomipramine hydrochloride, a tricyclic antidepressant that works by modulating serotonin levels in the brain to manage fear and anxiety.
