A honey-flavoured oral solution designed for the simple, accurate treatment of feline hyperthyroidism
Thyronorm® Oral Solution for Cats is a honey-flavoured oral solution designed for the simple, accurate treatment of feline hyperthyroidism.
WHAT IS FELINE HYPERTHYROIDISM?
Feline hyperthyroidism is believed to be the most common hormonal disease in cats globally, and is thought to affect 12% of the cat population over the age of 93.
It affects the thyroid gland, which is situated either side of the windpipe in the neck of the cat. The thyroid gland produces the hormone thyroxine (T4), which controls the body’s metabolism, i.e. the speed at which the body uses energy.
In a cat suffering from hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland becomes overactive and produces too much thyroxine. This overproduction results in a ‘faster’ metabolism, and a stimulation of the central nervous system, which can cause restlessness, increased activity, or even aggression in some cats.
The change in metabolism can also affect many other organs, causing them to work harder than normal, and, if left untreated, this can lead to heart disease or kidney failure and your cat becoming seriously unwell.
The good news is that hyperthyroidism can usually be diagnosed with a simple blood test, and can be treated in a variety of ways which means your cat can carry on living a full and active life.
HOW DOES THYRONORM® WORK?
The active ingredient, thiamazole (5mg/ml), works by bringing excessive thyroid hormone (T4) levels back into a healthy range. Whether you are stabilising your cat before a surgery or providing long-term daily care, this solution helps alleviate the common symptoms of the disorder to improve your pet's overall well-being.

It is recommended to administer Thyronorm directly into your cat's mouth using the provided syringe to ensure they receive the full dose. For the treatment to be most effective, it is important to be consistent: give the medication at the same time every day and ideally in the same way relative to feeding (either always during a meal or always on an empty stomach).
No, Thyronorm does not require refrigeration. You should store the bottle at room temperature (below 30°C). Keep the bottle inside the outer carton to protect the solution from direct light, and always ensure the cap is tightly closed after use.
Thyronorm is a clear oral solution containing the active ingredient Thiamazole (5mg/mL). Thiamazole works by reducing the excessive production of thyroid hormones, helping to bring your cat's T4 levels back into a healthy, normal range.
Once the bottle is opened, the solution remains stable and safe to use for 6 months. We recommend writing the date you first opened the bottle on the packaging so you know exactly when to replace it. Any remaining product should be safely discarded after this 6-month period

The liquid formulation makes administering the medication simple and often less stressful for both you and your cat compared to tablets. It comes with a calibrated syringe, allowing for accurate and precise dosing tailored to your cat's specific needs, as determined by your veterinarian.
