Ceramides are complex lipids naturally present in the superficial layers of the skin. They can interact with other lipids in a certain way to trap water, keeping the water holding capacity of these upper layers. Together with the essential fatty acids contained in Vitamin F, they also help reduce the water loss. Therefore, they help maintain the structure and hydration of the skin.
